.2:37am.. Johnny Truant. Tomorrow morning I will be leaving for a few days with the band Means, from Regina Saskatchewan. I've been really good friends with these guys since high school and I'm really excited that they are out here in Ontario playing some shows and that they asked me to come with them to take some photos. If you haven't heard of Means then check them out here (www.myspace.com/means_music). I will be posting many amazing photos once I get back.
Before I go, I would love to share a photo or two I took the other day of the amazing Johnny Truant (www.myspace.com/johnnytruant). They played at the Reverb here in Toronto as the headlining act at a Supernova battle of the bands show. For anyone who hasn't yet heard of Johnny Truant, they are a metal band from the UK, and they are the most amazing group of people to be friends with, and a really incredible band. We hung out a few times since they came to Canada for their current tour and I'm excited for their next Toronto show on March 10th with Cancer Bats, The End, and The Gorgeous.
Check out one of the Johnny Truant photos for now untill I have time to post some more. Oh and keep checking back in the next few weeks/months. I have some great news about a new photo collective in the works with myself, as well as the incredibly talented David Waldman from Kidwithcamera.com (www.kidwithcamera.com).
If all that wasn't quite enough, I also have this Comeback Kid poster by Andrew McCracken of Doublenaut.com (www.doublenaut.com). He used various photos of mine from a few different Comeback Kid shows here in Toronto to create the wall of crowd, as well as the band members at the top. Click Here to check that out.

.4:30pm.. Rob Dyer Painting. So, the other day I was checking out some stuff on myspace and I came across this painting of Rob dyer from Skate 4 Cancer by a girl named Grace. The painting is of a photo I took of Rob a few weeks back. I was so excited when I came across the painting, since no one has ever painted one of my photos before. Good times. Click Here to check out Rose's page. Check out the painting below, and if you want to see the original photograph, just go to my photography section and look through the portraits.
In very related news, its Rob's birthday today! Anyone around the Toronto area should head on over to the El Mocambo tonight on College and Spadina for 7 and celebrate at the Skate 4 Cancer party.

.11:45pm.. The Junction. Well, today I finally got to experience the joys of having only 15 minutes to set up and shoot a band before they have to rush off to their next interview.
I was scheduled to shoot The Junction, during an interview with Truth Explosion Magazine. It turns out that at some point along the lines, some times got mixed up, and when I showed up early for what I was told would be a 5:30 interview, I find out the band was scheduled to leave for Much Music at that time. So there I am with about 5 minutes to set up my lighting while Brent Jackson finishes up a different interview, and 10 minutes after that to shoot some photos, which will accompany an interview that will now be done through email at a later date. Below are a few of my picks out of the bunch.
Overall I would say that I'm happy with the photos, especially given the time I had to do them, I think they turned out ok. These guys are so much fun to hang out with too. Always making jokes and having fun.

.5:59pm.. Dallas Green and Leah Miller. Earlier this week I did some photos of Dallas Green, who is the singer of St Catherines hardcore band Alexisonfire as well as City & Colour.
I also did photos of Much Music VJ Leah Miller as an addition to my ongoing Toronto music scene portrait series. Below are a few of my favorites from both of those shoots.

Ok so I realized I never really update this site with most of the things I have recently done or the things I have coming up, so I feel the desire to do that now. I finished a website recently for Torque Recording Company out of Regina saskatchewan which you can check out at www.torqueonline.com Just last night I shot live photos of Attack in Black, Casey Baker, and Hostage Life. I also did some promo photos of Hostage Life last night before the show. A week or so ago I did promo photos for Casey Baker who is an amazing singer songwriter from St Catherines Ontario, and Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah, who play some sick punk rock jams. I mentioned in my last post that I did some Johnny Truant photos, and I will be doing some live shots of them on March 17th at the Reverb.
Coming up in the next few weeks I will be doing some new promos for Silverstein, and The Junction, portraits of Al Nolan from Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah, and Patrick Pentland from Sloan, and lastly, working on a website for Band Aide PR who are a promotions company based out of Toronto.
Alright, I remembered why I dont really post with all the things I've worked on or am currently working on, since the list ends up being so long and the post becomes boring to read.
I end with a link to www.vanessaheins.com/blog. I made her website a while back and she has been working on a lot of new stuff but hasn't had the time to put it all up on the site, so we made a blog for her to post little samples of what shes done/doing. Kinda like what this thing is, only her photos are better. for real, go look.
