Thursday, September 18th - Happy Birthday James
Last night I was shooting the Shad/Hey Ocean show at The Mod Club and I ran into my friend James Kachan. It turns out it was James' birthday yesterday so Vanessa and I went out to get a drink and some Nachos with him at Sneaky Dees after the show.

While we were there I was playing around with my camera and I decided I would try taking some photos of him using the ambient light, which if you have ever been to Sneaky Dees, you will know is basically the equivalent of about two candles.

I managed to get a few decent shots by pushing my camera to the limits when James began to check text messages on his iPhone, when I got the idea to use his phone as a light source for my photo.

I had was using my 35mm lens at f/2, the camera was set at ISO 1600, and a 30th/sec shutter speed, then I held the iPhone above his head to the left as my light source. I was pretty happy with the results. After that, James showed me this app that he had downloaded that basically just changes the screen color randomly really fast, so I did a sequence of that for aother photo which you can see a few of in the last image.

Happy birthday James.
